Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) of the CBS soap ‘The Young and the Restless’ has renewed her contract. A spokesperson for Scott confirms to Soaps In Depth that the actress reports to the set next month to begin taping; she’ll reportedly air around Thanksgiving. Shortly after the news broke Melody took to her Twitter and sent out a message to her fans “I hope all of you know that YOU are the reason I am back, had you not rallied behind me, and stirred up ALL kinds of trouble, Nikki would [be gone]. I can never thank you enough.”

Former American Idol runner-up and Broadway star Diana DeGarmo is headed to The Young and the Restless, she has been cast in the contract role of Jersey Girl Angelina, the daughter of Mob boss Angelo. The actress/singer reports to the Y&R set next week to begin taping and should hit the screen in late October.

Actress Maura West has been let go from CBS’s The Young and the Restless, it has been confirmed by CBS Soaps Indepth. West has played ‘Diane’ on the CBS soap for less then a year, as of yet there’s no word on how ‘Diane’ will exit the show. West is best known for her role as ‘Carly Snyder’ on the long running soap ‘As The World Turns’ which end it’s 54 year run last year.

Daytime actress Emily O’Brien has been fired from CBS’s The Young and the Restless,Soap Opera Digest is reporting. Emily has played (Jana Hawkes-Fisher) for five years, No specific reason has been cited for the firing at this point and no information has been released as to when her last air date will be. Emily has been nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards for her role as (Jana Hawkes-Fisher).

After six years veteran daytime actress Judith Chapman has been dropped to recurring status on CBS’s The Young and the Restless. Chapman has been part of the soaps regular cast since 2005, has now been dropped from the contract cast seemingly because producers have run out of storylines for her character. Chapman is expected to remain a part of the Y&R cast, making appearances as dictated by storyline.
