Ellen DeGeneres To Receive Mark Twain Award For Humor

Ellen DeGeneres has been selected by the Kennedy Center to receive this year’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Ellen said in a statment: “It’s such an honor to receive the Mark Twain Prize. To get the same award that has been given to people like Bill Cosby, Tina Fey and Will Ferrell, it really makes me wonder . . . why didn’t I get this sooner?”

The award will be presented to Ellen at a ceremony on October 22nd that will be recorded for a later broadcast.

Tim McGraw Launches Signature Line of Headphones

Country singer Tim McGraw has teamed up with Harman International Industries to create the JBL Tim McGraw Artist Series of headphones. The on-ear version of Tim’s signature line of headphones retails for $129.95, while the in-ear version retails for under $50.

Bret Michaels Settles Case Over 2009 Tonys Mishap

Bret Michaels and organizers of the Tony Awards have settled a lawsuit filed by Michaels after a 2009 incident in which he was hit in the head with a set piece and suffered injuries that contributed to a brain hemorrhage that nearly killed him in 2010. The terms of the settlement will not be made public.

In April 2010, about 10 months after the Tonys, Michaels suffered a brain hemorrhage. Michaels said it nearly killed him and that it may have been spurred by his head trauma at the Tonys. He later suffered a “warning” stroke. Doctors who treated him then found he had a hole in his heart. He had surgery in January 2011 to correct the ailment.

Michaels filed the suit last March, naming the Tony Awards and CBS, which broadcast the awards ceremony. Michaels’ attorney Alex Weingarten said in a statement “Mr. Michaels would like to thank his fans for their continued support.”

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato To Judge ‘X Factor’

It’s finally official Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are joining ‘The X Factor.’ Kevin Reilly, President of FOX Entertainment just made the announcement moments ago at the Fox programming upfront held at New York’s Beacon Theater. Both Britney and Demi were in New York for the announcement and joined LA Reid and Simon Cowell on stage.

Simon Cowell said on stage “Well, we delivered. Rumors are one thing, delivering is something else. This has taken a year to get where we’ve got to today and I am thrilled to be able to confirm, as you can see, the return of LA Reid, the addition of Demi Lovato and the superstar Britney Spears.”

CBS Cancels ‘CSI: Miami’

CBS has canceled ‘CSI: Miami’ after 10 seasons. CBS said in a statement Sunday morning:”‘CSI: Miami’ leaves an amazing television legacy a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’ rise to the top over the past decade. William Balfour Found Guilty In Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial

William Balfour has been found guilty of murdering Jennifer Hudson’s Mother, Brother and 7 year old Nephew. Balfour faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, Jennifer was in the court room when the verdict was read.

Lifetime Orders Docu-Series Starring Whitney Houston’s Family

Lifetime announced today that they have ordered a docu-series following the family of the late Whitney Houston. The series will be called ‘The Houston Family Chronicles’ it will star Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, sister-in-law and manager Pat and her husband Gary, Pat and Gary’s daughter, Rayah and Whitney’s mother Cissy. Houston representative Kristen Foster also confirmed the Lifetime show.

Lifetime executive Rob Sharenow said in a statement: “The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family. In the series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love and grow.”

Russell Brand To Host 2012 MTV Movie Awards

It was announced this morning that Russell Brand will host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Brand has hosted for the network twice before at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 and 2009.

In an MTV statement Brand says:”MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things. Movies and Awards. If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life.This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers, and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out.”

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards take place on June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California & will be broadcast live on MTV.

Martina McBride To Sing National Anthem At Indy 500

Martina McBride’s website announced this morning that she will sing the national anthem during pre-race ceremonies at the 96th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 27th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Martina said in a statement on her website: “I am extremely excited that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has invited me to this year’s Indy 500. It is a huge honor to sing the National Anthem at what is known as the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
